Choked accretion onto a Kerr black hole

چکیده

The choked accretion model consists of a purely hydrodynamical mechanism in which, by setting an equatorial to polar density contrast, spherically symmetric flow transitions inflow-outflow configuration. This scenario has been studied the case (non-rotating) Schwarzschild black hole as central accretor, well non-relativistic limit. In this article, we generalize these previous works studying perfect fluid onto (rotating) Kerr hole. We first describe using steady-state, irrotational analytic solution ultrarelativistic fluid, obeying stiff equation state. then use numerical simulations order explore more general Analyzing effects hole's rotation on flow, find particular that morphology prevails for all possible values spin parameter, showing robustness model.

Tilted Thick-disk Accretion onto a Kerr Black Hole

We present the first results from fully general relativistic numerical studies of thick-disk accretion onto a rapidly-rotating (Kerr) black hole with a spin axis that is tilted (not aligned) with the angular momentum vector of the disk. We initialize the problem with the solution for an aligned, constant angular momentum, accreting thick disk around a black hole with spin a/M = J/M = +0.9 (prog...

Non-axisymmetric relativistic Bondi-Hoyle accretion onto a Kerr black hole

In our program of studying numerically the so-called Bondi-Hoyle accretion in the fully relativistic regime, we present here first results concerning the evolution of matter accreting supersonically onto a rotating (Kerr) black hole. These computations generalize previous results where the non-rotating (Schwarzschild) case was extensively considered. We parametrize our initial data by the asymp...

Extracting Energy from Accretion into a Kerr Black Hole.

The highest efficiency of converting rest mass into energy by accreting matter into a Kerr black hole is approximately 31% (Thorne 1974). We propose a new process in which periods of accretion from a thin disk, and the associated spin-up of the black hole, alternate with the periods of no accretion and magnetic transfer of energy from the black hole to the disk. These cycles can repeat indefini...

Super-Eddington accretion disc around a Kerr black hole

We calculate the structure of accretion disc around a rapidly rotating black hole with a super-Eddington accretion rate. The luminosity and height of the disc are reduced by the advection effect. In the case of a large viscosity parameter, α > 0.03, the accretion flow strongly deviates from thermodynamic equilibrium and overheats in the central region. With increasing accretion rate, the flow t...

Hot, Dense Matter Accretion onto a Black Hole

The accretion of hot, dense matter which consists of heavy nuclei, free nucleons, degenerated electrons, photons and neutrinos is studied. The composition of free nucleons and their chemical potentials are provided through the equation of state for hot, dense matter proposed by Lattimer & Swesty (1991). The numbers of leptons are calculated through the reactions of neutrinos and through the sim...
